what we offer
Autism Evaluations
Start with a Screening
Our autism evaluation service helps families get clarity with compassion. We guide you from the first screening call through formal testing and a personalized follow-up plan.
EarliPoint™
At Show-Me State Pediatrics, we use EarliPoint™, an FDA-authorized, tablet-based medical device designed to aid in early and efficient autism diagnosis. EarliPoint™ uses advanced eye-tracking technology to measure and quantify a child’s social visual engagement, offering an objective biomarker for autism that is free from race or ethnic bias. With one short test, it provides clinicians with an expert-level assessment that serves as a reliable proxy for two gold-standard evaluations, helping families receive timely and accurate insights into their child’s development.
Supporting Timely, Informed Care
Same-day results help guide discussions with families and care teams. The EarliPoint™ Assessment device is indicated as a tool to aid qualified clinicians in the diagnosis and assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children ages 16 months through 95 months (7 years), who are at risk based on concerns identified by a parent, caregiver, or healthcare provider.
Traditional Autism Evaluations vs. EarliPoint Health
| Category | Traditional Autism Evaluation (Kids) | EarliPointTM Evaluations at Show-Me State Pediatrics |
|---|---|---|
| Age Range | Typically 2–5+ years (often later diagnosis) | 16–95 months |
| Core Method | Clinical observation + parent interviews + standardized tests | Eye-tracking technology + AI analysis |
| How It Works | Child interacts with clinician (play, tasks, questions) | Child watches short social videos while eye movements are tracked |
| Data Type | Mostly subjective + behavioral observations | OBJECTIVE, quantitative data (120 measurements/sec) |
| Wait Time | Can be long (months–years) due to specialist demand | 1-2 months |
| Who Performs It | Psychologists, developmental pediatricians, multidisciplinary teams | Physicians |
| Length of Visit | 4+ hours | 1 hour |
| Accuracy | Highly reliable but depends on clinician expertise | High accuracy in studies (e.g., ~78% sensitivity, ~85% specificity) (EarliPoint Health) |
| Child Cooperation Needed | Requires interaction, following instructions | Minimal—child watches videos |
| Best For | Full developmental profile at any age | Very early detection and re-evaluations |
| Limitations | Subjectivity, long wait times, later diagnosis | Not FDA approved to use in all ages |
